HAPPY SMILES AT A LEI MAKING PARTY

Hawai'ian Hula Hips/Hula Halau Ho'opalama performances include songs, dances & costuming from Tahiti, Hawaii, Samoa and New Zealand. The conch shell trumpet and rhythmic drums announce the start of your journey through our South Pacific islands:

Hawaii: Graceful movements with the hands or use of colorful percussion implements tell stories about life in the islands.

Tahiti: Wearing beautiful headdresses, floral embellishments, pareu or more` skirt and hand tassels, the dancers perform Aparima and Otea moving their hips to soft Tahitian guitars and pulsating drum beats.

New Zealand: Maori poi balls or flaming poi balls are twirled and swung to form patterns in a high-energy presentation. Haka or greeting dances are also performed to tell different stories of the Maori people and their migration to the islands.

Samoa: Siva tells a story in Samoa. Dances are performed with Lapa sticks and hand movements, and the breathtaking fire dance displays beauty and spectacle while a dancer maneuvers burning flames to the beat of Samoan drum rhythms.
